Vita

Eva Geulen joined the Department of German at the University of Bonn in 2003. She studied German and philosophy at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg i. Breisgau and the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, where she graduated in 1984. In 1989, she defended her PhD thesis "Worthörig wider Willen. Darstellungsproblematik und Sprachreflexion in der Prosa Adalbert Stifters".1989 – 1990 she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the German Department at Stanford University, from 1990 to 1996 Associate Professor at the Department for Modern Languages and Cultures of the University of Rochester, New York. From 1996 – 2003, Eva Geulen worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at New York University, and from 2000 – 2004 as a founding member and co-director of the interdisciplinary research programme "Poetics and Theory" at New York University. In 2007 she was appointed visiting professor at the university of Florence and Distinguished Max Kade Visiting Professor at Indiana University. She is co-editor of the Zeitschrift für Deutsche Philologie.
